Information and anecdotes about the dances and tunes
A new collection of old music, selected and transcribed by Christina Smith. The selection includes some old favourites like Mussels in the Corner, Auntie Mary, She Said She Couldn’t Dance and Now I’m 64 along with many unique tunes never previously published. Graded in order of difficulty, these attractive tunes are ideal for beginners and seasoned players alike.
The tunes are transcribed in the easiest keys for fiddle, mandolin, tenor banjo and whistle; D and A major, and E minor. When the music goes below the range of whistle or recorder, smaller notes are written in the octave above. Guitar chords are written in large print. More difficult alternatives are written in a smaller font in brackets underneath the easier ones.
The tunes are in order of difficulty for the fiddle. This will not be the case for the other instruments, which offer different challenges. While the tunes are all quite easy, they have been graded in difficulty for each instrument from 1 - 4, 1 being easiest and 4 least easy. The difficulty ratings can be found in the Table of Contents. The accordion tab can, of course, be played on an accordion of any key.
Available from local music stores or by order from Inshore Publications.
