Anyone who wants to develop property on Signal Hill/Battery may now expect equal treatment, i.e. the right to bypass both the development regulations in the St. John's Municipal Plan and the Battery Development Guidelines. It's simple! Just ignore the City Planning Dept. and go directly to the Mayor and Councillors. Ask them to change the rules for your development!
If City Council is determined to pursue this planning vision for our area, then Battery residents deserve equal consideration for their own property developments. If a U.S. developer does not have to comply with the existing development regulatuions, then neither should we.
Therefore, on Jan 19/06 someSignal Hill/Battery residents submitted development applications (listed below) which will require similar exemption from the Battery Development Guidelines. Like the U.S. developer of The Rock, these local proposals have been submitted to the City with a sketch of the proposed building. The applicants are asking Councillors to ignore any advice they may receive from their Planning Dept staff and vote to give these proposals the green light immediately.
