RE: Proposed Text Amendment Š St. JohnÕs Development Regulations Battery 
Hotel Site, Signal Hill Road


I wish to express my concern regarding the proposed text amendment to the St. 
JohnÕs Development Regulations regarding the Battery Hotel Site on Signal Hill 
Road. 

Increasing the size of the current Battery Hotel by 3.5 times is completely out of 
scale and context in a residential neighbourhood. It will become the focal point 
of Signal Hill when viewed from the rest of the City, and belittle the cultural and 
historical significance of The Battery, Cabot Tower, and Signal Hill. 

I oppose the process by which St. JohnÕs City Council reviewed this application. 
This application has ignored and contravenes the St. Johns Development 
Regulations and the Battery Guideline Regulations and sets a dangerous 
precedent for future development applications within St. JohnÕs.

I demand that this and all future development applications follow the 
application process and all applicable regulations and guidelines, without 
exemption or alteration.
